마크 내피어는 회화와 컴퓨터엔지니어링을 공부했고, 데이터 베이스 시스템 디자인과 웹베이스 툴과 관련해서 15년간 근무한 경력이 있다. 1995년 웹의 등장과 함께 디지털 아티스트로 전향했다. 내피어의 작품들은 대개가 소프트웨어 인터페이스의 양상을 띠고 있으며, JavaScript, Java, DHTML등의 언어를 기반으로 한다.
